“Music is honesty. We create what we feel and share it with the audience.” – Piotr Wojtasik.

The collaboration between Anna Maria Jopek and Piotr Wojtasik is a unique blend of two artistic personalities. In 2020, Anna Maria Jopek invited Piotr Wojtasik to the “Przestworza” project, for which Piotr took over as musical director. This extraordinary musical collaboration is still ongoing and constantly evolving. This time, Anna Maria Jopek will be Piotr Wojtasik’s special guest.

Anna Maria Jopek was born on December 14, 1970, in Warsaw. As a child of soloists from the band Mazowsze, she grew up in the world of art. Her artistic and folk character left a significant mark on the vocalist’s artistic sensitivity. She continues to operate within this aesthetic to a significant extent today. The stylistic framework of Anna Maria Jopek’s work is formed by three areas of musical experience: a love of folklore, inherited from her home, a classical musical education (she graduated from the piano class at the Fryderyk Chopin University of Music), and a love of jazz. These three dimensions, present in varying proportions in Anna Maria Jopek’s work, keep her work within a broad stylistic spectrum, from (especially in her early period) pieces in the modern pop convention, through original, stylistically autonomous compositions, to the body of work often referred to today as “contemporary eclectic jazz.” A common feature of all her artistic endeavors is an extraordinary attention to quality, both conceptually, in terms of performance and interpretation, and production. This level of professionalism, the highest artistic value, and continuous development have led Anna Maria Jopek to collaborate (in addition to most of the most important Polish performers) with such giants of world jazz as Pat Metheny, Branford Marsalis, Gonzalo Rubalcaba, Makoto Ozone, and Richard Bona. Each Anna Maria Jopek concert you witness is a small fragment of her path of development, which she constantly follows.

Piotr Wojtasik, a trumpet virtuoso, an accomplished improviser, and composer, has been speaking his own unique musical language for over 30 years. He has recorded and performed in most European countries, Morocco, Israel, Canada, the United States, Japan, and India. In the 1980s and 1990s, he represented the modern bop movement, which has now taken on a more individual form, based in part on modal jazz with minor elements of free and ethnic music. He regularly collaborates with musicians such as John Betsch, Joris Teepe, Viktor Tóth, Steven McCraven, Nicolas Simion, Michał Barański, Michał Miśkiewicz, and Michał Tokaj. For years, he has been invited to collaborate with legendary saxophonist Billy Harper. He has participated in numerous special projects with world jazz giants such as Kenny Garrett, Joe Lovano, and Archie Shepp. He has also performed as a sideman in other bands featuring musicians of such stature as Victor Lewis, George Cables, Kirk Lightsey, and Joe LaBarbera. He is one of the few Polish musicians regularly invited to international projects, such as the Michel Donato Quintet and the European Jazz Ensemble. He has guest-songwritered on over dozen albums, recording twelve original albums that have received high acclaim from critics and music lovers alike. The albums “Circle” and “Hope” received the prestigious Polish music industry award, the Fryderyk. Most of the others were nominated for it. Wojtasik himself received two Fryderyk awards in 2008, for Jazz Musician of the Year and as the author of the Best
