Buba Badjie Kuyateh comes from Brikama, Gambia, Africa. He is a descendant of a family of griots who share the features of music masters and guardians of history in West Africa. It is also synonymous with Tuti Kuyateh – a well-known singer in The Gambia. Kausu Kuyateh’s father and Dembo Konte’s uncle are also griots. They introduced him to the secrets of music and virtuoso playing the kora. In the Gambia family, Buba Badjie Kuyateh is considered one of the highest acceptable musicians of a new type, who is strong in tradition and is influenced by new artistic trends, often permeating his music through the inspiration of the so-called. Western culture. He is considered a master of “African funky style” and is an extremely well-known and popular person in his country. In 2012, he set off for Europe: his important arrival turned out to be Warsaw. Here he founded the band Bantambo (a fusion of kora, funk and jazz), he also gave concerts with Polish artists such as Maria Pomianowska, Marcin Masecki, Włodzimierz Kiniorski, Michał Górczyński, Raphael Rogiński, Milo Kurtis and Stanisław Soyka.

The band includes Buba Badjie Kuyateh, grandson of the famous Alhagie Bai Conteh, from The Gambia in West Africa. He plays a traditional Gambian 21-string instrument called the Kora, and Marcin Pendowski aka Pendofsky, a bass player from Poland. The musicians met a few years ago during a jam session in a Warsaw jazz club and immediately came up with the idea of a joint project. In 2018, they started working on their own compositions. Polish drummer Dominik Jaske initially joined the band, and from spring 2022 Argentine drummer DID LEZ joined the ranks.
The fruit of this collaboration is the album, which was scheduled for release in autumn 2022.
